Keep Okaloosa Beautiful
Keep Okaloosa Beautiful hosts cleanups along city and county roads and parks on public property. Residents can notify us of littered areas via email or social media messages to request a clean up. KOB can also support volunteer led cleanup activities if individuals or groups would like to adopt an area and cleanup on their own time. Please email the Executive Director to coordinate activities.
KOB also partners with other organizations around the county to support litter reduction activities and special events: Destin-Fort Walton Beach's Annual Earth Day Cleanup (April), Inter-Library Cooperative Cleanup (July), and the International Coastal Cleanup (September).
Litter Index: Every year KOB completes the "Community Appearance Index". This survey consists of four volunteers assisting the Executive Director in judging 10-12 sites within Okaloosa on a scale of 1 to 4. 1 being not littered or very mild litter (1-2 pieces) up to 4 being illegal dump site or heavily littered. Throughout the year these sites will be monitored and cleaned in hopes that the community develops a sense of ownership and is deterred from continuous littering.
Recycling Education and Improvements are at the core of Keep Okaloosa Beautiful's mission.

Environmental education is a key part of KOB's mission. Please let us know if you'd like to request a presentation on the topic of recycling, waste reduction, or any number of topics. We can table at events where the public can engage by participating in activities or asking questions!
