Eglin Air Force Base (AFB), in coordination with Okaloosa County, intends to identify roadway realignment options for SR 85 and the existing roadway system leading to the Eglin West Gate for the purpose of maximizing areas of potential future land development west of the main cantonment area and improve operational deficiencies of the existing roadway network.

The purpose of the State Road 85 Realignment  Project is for Eglin AFB and its tenants to have the optimum land development opportunities by expanding the available developable land within Eglin’s cantonment area. The additional area is needed to support current and future mission-related activities and to support and sustain a fully capable installation that is adaptable to the requirements of future generation weapon systems and associated facility infrastructure.
