Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)
The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 was implemented on July 30, 2008 to address the severe housing crisis. Title III of the Act utilized funds under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) for states and local governments to purchase and redevelop abandoned or foreclosed properties. Okaloosa County was awarded NSP funding through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. This grant is now closed.
As part of this grant Okaloosa County purchased, rehabilitated and built 75 units that are rented to low income households at affordable rents. A wait-list may exist for this program.
